  • TD12 to record midi (in Reaper) then run back thru module to record onboard sounds

    Hi

What I would like to do for intra-band demos is record with TD12 using its on-board sounds but have editing capability. I'm not keen on using a VST for the moment having got fed up with BFD2 a while back (lots of hi-hat issues). I assume that recording the midi just needs midi out to the soundcard (Edirol UA-25-EX 24-bit) and to the track in the DAW, but I have absolutely no idea how to get separate tracks for snare, kick etc in the project, and I also don't know how to record TD12 onboard sounds back to the DAW.

    Can anybody advise?

Snare is one MIDI note, kick is another, etc....

Just select all the same note from the original track and copy to a new track.
Do that for every note and you have multiple outs.

Send MIDI out to your td12 and record what coming out of stereo outputs.

Check YouTube to understand how ins and outs of a DAW work.
