  • Would I be further ahead buying the TDW-1 TD10 module, or just buying a TD-12 brain?

Dollar for dollar, what would be a better deal?

You're welcome. This of course does not take into consideration of the sound sets which may be more updated and pleasing to the ear in the TD-12. You'll still probly want some user input for that.

          True.

For the money though, I was even considering the Yamaha DTX700 brain. It's really a pretty amazing and updated piece, but I don't know if all the Roland triggers would work with it properly, especially the hi hats.

Yamaha uses Piezo/switch for their pads. Roland uses piezo/piezo...so probly not........unless there is a piezo/piezo setting option in the 700. Never having this module I couldn't say. However I would inquire of the community first to make sure. If you search....this question may have already been answered in the past too. Happy hunting.

Nope, most inputs are piezo-switch on a DTX700... For more piezo-piezo inputs, you'll need to look down at the DTX502 module.

If your pads are mostly Roland, I would stick to a Roland module (and the same would be true as well if you already had a Yamaha). Other than that, 2Box or a MegaDrum would work with a Roland kit.

Ok, thanks, I'm glad I asked. Actually I'm pretty happy with the TD10. If I can find a TWD 1 card, I'd be all set.

Another question: Is there any way to import sounds from the TD6 to the TD10? It doesn't look too promising from what I can see, but the TD6 had some cool specialized sound that I wish the TD10 has.

in a word....no. Good luck finding a TDW-1 card...they are all but extinct. Go with the TD-12 and Vex as suggested.

haven't been here in quite a while.. TDW-1 cards are hard to find and don't buy a "used" one because it will Not Work. There is, though, a guy that does an install/exchange deal where you send your TD-10 in with some $ and he sends you back one with the TDW-1 card installed. Obviously you would back up your TD-10 first since anything not factory won't be on the one coming to you. I think he has a listing on one of the auction sites.

Yeah, I decided on the TD-12 .... I mean, I can get a nice one with a mount for around $550-$600 if I keep my eyes open. Thanks for the suggestions.
