  • Care Package for 'Rifleman WS'

Vdrum.com member Rifleman_WI is in Iraq. He posted a wish list of sorts a while back.

I and vdrums member Knipedrums have conspired to help him out. I purchased this drum for Rifleman_WI off eBay and am converting it to two 12"toms. his wish list is a little longer.

Pics of this drum project at: http://www.vdrums.com/forum/album.php?albumid=85

PM me if you can help out.

Here is a section of one of my emails from Rifleman_WI:
other than the toms i need 2 cymbals, 2 l-rod clamps for the rack, 2 cy holders for the rack, 4 stereo input jacks pre wired with 6" leads, and 2 stereo cables, and the two toms with cables already connected to them. sounds and looks like the heads are turning out very good, i cant wait. yea the heads look pretty sweet, i like black alot. its ok about the shell, i understand, being sick sucks, ive been sick like 12 times since weve been out here. happy anneversry man, yea spend all your time with her, im going to miss my 3 year this year.. take care man and thanks for all the help and doing this project for me. thanks again. -Jeremy

Ok edrum world. You play while he and others pay. Contact me if you can help.

On this same topic. I have two size piezos I can use for these two e-drums, a 35mm or 27mm.
Can anyone tell me which would be better suited for his yamaha dd-20 that he is using as the drum brain?

Also - Do I wire it the same as a Roland - I am putting in both a rim and a head piezo

    Thank You All

UPDATE: M Render is in the house. - thank you!!

The list is now down to needing only the following items:
    1 cymbal
2 cymbal mounts for a rack
2 L-rod clamps for the rack to hold the toms- (the toms now have L-rods on them)

look around and see if you have anything that might help - you can PM me for shipping info.

you can also drop a note to Rifleman_WI (here at vdrums.com) and let him know that you are praying for him and all his comrades. These guys are out there with not much in the form of home contact.

    thank you for helping out.

What kind of cymbal mounts? I may be willing to grab some cymbal stands off ebay and just have them shipped to you to go with the rest of the stuff. I'm thinking about it. Don't have a ton of money but I'll look around When are you sending out the other stuff?

That is a very generous offer. Thank You I'll ask Jeremy for an answer on that.

I'll ship when I have all the parts that people have commited to. I just received my TRS jacks today, so I'll have the Toms I am building done by this weekend. All else will wait untill I can get the rest filled for Jeremy.

His user ID is Rifleman_WI (I had posted it as _WS in error)

Bless you and all the others that pray for our soldiers

How often does he get on to respond? Reason I ask is because there are a couple items I'm watching that end very soon lol. Don't want to bid on them and buy if it's not what he needs

I don't know either.. he seems to be able to check this site about every day. I am guessing his time zone is about 8 hrs ahead of EST (Bagdad is GMT +3hrs). I really do not know where he is exactly.

Pm him directly if you want to his user ID is Rifleman_WI

I'll wait to hear back from you on parts stats

hey guys, first off i want to give a big thanks to racer52, tom knipe and mike render for setting all of this up for me, i really appreciate it guys, we cant wait till the parts get here
daddy4life85- about the cymbal stands, those should work, if all else fails ill have to figure out a way to clamp them to the rack if their isn't enough room, but their should be i really appreciate the generosity you guys are displaying, ill make sure this all gets put to good use.

i usually get to come on here once a day or so, depending on how busy we are over here, or if the internet is working properly.. i will post pix, and maby a video if i can when this is all done, my buddie and i have been working on a few songs he has written, their turning out pretty good so far.

Alright, I'm still looking around a bit haha. There were a couple pearl cymbal stands, one a boom style the other a straight one I believe. Also happens to come with a kick drum pedal. Whatever its all together but I might bid on it. It doesn't have any of the mounting hardware on the top though like the felt pieces and the butterfly screws it looks like. What kind of rack do you have? Any pictures? Maybe I can find something that would mount on the rack.

its a rack i made out of PVC pipe and 1.5" tubing i found at the scrap yard out here, it should be the standard size for clamps. no pix yet, its not all the way done yet.

Hmm how sturdy is it? Lol, wondering if it would be better to just go with cymbal stands but if the rack can take a beating then I guess it would be ok.

its pretty sturdy, if it holds a cymbal it works and im not gonna complain.

Is that the outside diameter of the rack tube that the clamps will attach to??

We need to know the Outside Diameter of your tube so that we can be certain that the tom mounting clampcan be made to work. If the clamp is a bit large for your tube you could insert some shim material to fill the gap. However, if the clamp is too small to fit your tube...well then - it won't fit

                              general info:
the L rods used for the toms are standard looking Roland typ with a rubber sleeve for inserting into the rack clamp.
                              see pics at my albums.....
