I've just learned that my Kit Toys cymbals are not chokeable. I'd seen videos where people choked them, but it turns out that for reasons unknown to me, mine were made without this mechanism. It has been described to me as a half-moon-shaped switch that you grab to get the choke. I don't know if this choke switch transmits a MIDI note or is just a kill switch. Is anybody familiar with how these things work? I'm thinking there may be a way to retrofit the cymbals if I can get the switches from the vendor.

Expert advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

I'm sure you could wire a simple Hellfire-style switch to the cymbal and have your choke and potentially edge crash sounds as well.

Thanks very much for the reply. Yeah, I'm thinking this should be a pretty easy fix, I'm just not sure how to go about it.

      Cheers.

Thanks again. Doesn't look too difficult - I'll give it a shot.

          Cheers.
