  • Reversing a Raper Circuit?

Firstly, I have a Roland module, TD-8 to be exact. Secondly, the weakest aspect of my DIY abilities is circuitry. Now, with this in mind...

I have a DIY ride with a raper circuit. Although the TD-8 has automatic velocity separation between the bell and bow piezos, I wanted to be able to "turn down" the bell sensitivity specifically and I made a raper circuit. (If referring to the Raper circuit diagram, the bell piezo would be considered as the main piezo.) When I completed the Raper circuit as directed, I am only able to "turn down" the sensitivity on the bow piezo. My goal is to do the opposite, so does anyone know if this is possible? If it is possible (and I think it probably is) can anyone could explain how to "reverse" the circuit or redirect the current so that I can adjust the bell instead instead of the bow. I will try to do some experimenting with this later, but if anyone can save me some time then that'd be awesome.

This might be a dumb suggestion, but if you have VdrumLib, all you need to do is swap the head and rim sounds. You can download a trial version to do that.

No, not a dumb suggestion at all...I honestly never thought about that. I already had the trial version awhile back, but I didn't get a chance to see what it could do and I haven't gotten around to buying it yet. I may just go download it and test that idea out...I really should have it by now anyway.

The DIY forum might be the wrong place to ask this, but is Vdrumlib usable with programs like EZdrummer?

Well, after getting the advice to try Vdrumlib last night, I figured I'd download it first thing this morning. Ironically, my computer died over night. So, until I can get it repaired, I will be using the GF's computer. Ideas are still welcome.

OK, I swapped the bell and bow piezo leads in the circuit again...it worked! Before I posted the thread I already tried doing that, but perhaps I didn't have it grounded properly. My goal was to reverse the circuit without physically changing the piezos around because my bow had three piezos which I didn't want to move. Funny thing, in the long run it didn't even matter because I radically changed everything around anyhow..oh well, it was fun and it works like a gem now. How I love this circuit...once it works that is

I am still curious though...does anyone know if Vdrumlib is usable with a VST, like EZdrummer for example?
