    Can these be setup on regular a hihat stand, or will I have to buy a separate petal also. If it mounts to a regular stand, how does it know what sound to make?

      Regular stand is all you need. The V-drums brain interprets the information from the VH-12 to decide what sounds to make. The degree of openness of the hat is sensed and the velocity and location of hits is also sensed via piezo type triggers.

          would it work with an alesis I/O trigger interface using BFD?
