    DIY Electric Cowbell

Since im trying to avoid using any proper drum hardware in my DIY drum project (except bass pedals) I thought I'd make a DIY cowbell. Its a triggered up cheesegrater! Cheesegraters are about the right size and shape as a cowbell. I covered the top in mousemat rubber to stop the weak metal getting damaged and filled it with foam to stop it creating to much noise. The piezo is inside it pressed onto the metal with the tightly packed foam. It has absolutley no triggering problems

Sean, as Mixxit said, that is so cool
I just checked out the other pics of your DIY project too and remember reading about your hihat control pedal. I'm looking forward to seeing and hopefully hearing your kit when it is completed.
      Awesome stuff

        that's great, Sean!

i did tinker with the idea of making a bass drum from a kitchen sink....but the taps kept getting in the way, and didn't know what to do about the plughole..

Is this an E-drum or an E-dam project?

Cool, and you can still use it to make Alfredo sauce with the small grater side

Haven't a clue yet. Im working on making clamps now. Ill probably just drill a hole in the plastic handle and mount it onto the metal rod clamp things im making now

And all those terrible jokes made me chuckle...

I'd be careful mounting using the plastic, it'll be rather fragile, especially when drilled and I'm not convinced it'll stand up to the abuse for that long.....

If it does break ill just buy a completely metal cheese grater. They're only about £1.50. Ive started making some clamps to try and mount it onto my diy rack

Why not go the whole way and have a utensil based kit....

convert a few pots and pans for the drums, a few of the lids for cymbals, a couple of plastic or metal plates for the hats, your cheese grater for the cowbell, a real bell for the kick etc etc
