  • Alternative to a Breakout Box for Roland Type 25 pin D-Sub Wiring Harness

Many eDrummers have and like to use more than one module but it's a very big hassle to switch from a module like a Roland TD11 with the 25 pin D-Sub to a module with 1/4 inch TRS inputs. While the sticky on this forum on this topic is helpful, I started thinking there must be an easier way to do this. So, here's my idea: use a DB25 IEEE1284 25-pin female to female parallel cable. Then, to use my Alesis module, connect one end of the DB25 cable to the Roland snake, and the other end to a spare Roland snake, using it backwards by connecting the right angled TRS plugs to the Alesis module inputs. This would avoid the hassle of trying to remove and resecure to the drum kit one snake for another. I will simply need to disconnect the male D-Sub from the Roland module and connect the D-sub cable to it, and I'm ready to use the other module.
