  • Questions on A2E conversion

    Hello,

(sorry if my english is not the best)

I was thinking on buying an edrum because I can not make noise, but discover A2E conversion and since I am seeing a lot of video on it. I really like the idea of having normal size drum and heads. So I would like to know if these things are ok to make a DIY edrum :

    1. I can have a used pearl export drum in very good state (think it's pretty nice, and I will can use it as acoustic in the future if I need).
    2. "Triggera intrigg triggers for snare and tom + triggera kick ("bix kick" or "krigg"). It seems not too difficult to go with these as I don't know nothing at electronics.to build DIY triggers.
    3. A used Roland brain : maybe a TD-11 or better if I find a good opportunity
    4. cables to connect triggers and brain
    5. Drum-tec heads or Remo silent stroke
    6. Rim noise protection
    7. Cymbals (I think about Roland cause it will go with the brain, but I don't knwo a lot at cymbals yet)

Is it all that is needed ? Nothing is forgotten ?

Do you think it will be as good as to buy for exemple a edrum Roland td-15KV. I think it can be +/- the same price :

    - 4 Triggers and 1 Kick trigger : +/- 200 with ship cost
    - Mesh head +/- 100 eur (Drum-tec or Remo silent stroke)
    - Brain : +/- 400 eur
    - Cymbals : +/- 500 eur (it seems possible to have good ones for this price or less)
    - Rim noise protection : +/- 50 eur
    - Pearl export drum : 400
    - cable : I don't know the price for that (I hope it will not be too much...)

Thanks if you can give advice, I would not make a mistake and forgot things.

Hi Kaerio, and welcome ; -)

Besides the rim noise protection: how will you remove the intrinsic noise from kick and cymbals? (Just saw you plan to use meshes for snare and toms, probably.)

Hello Michael, thank you for your answer.

For cymbals it seems difficult to make conversion and I need something quiet, so I was thinking to buy e-cymbals like Roland cymbals (hi-hat, crash and ride).

For the kick, yes I need to find something. I have not find yet the best way to do because it is a bit difficult to make search in english for me and there is nothing good in french about e-drum knowledge. I was thinking about a lot of foam or something.in the bass drum and use a mesh head like Remo silent or a drum-tec.Advices are welcome

Wouldn't it be easier, and may be almost cost neutral, to buy a (used) edrum-kick instead?

          Bonjour et bienvenue, Kaerio,

You already answered your question in your first post, but I guess Michael didn't see it.

The Krigg is almost noise-free. It will be your quietest trigger. Cymbals, especially the hi-hat, will be much noisier.

Your plan sounds nice and go ahead. If you have questions along the way, just ask.

My first advice would be to find the module first. After that, build your kit with the remaining money you have. It doesn't need to be all at once. You can build slowly, over time, until you have all that you need.

          Have fun!

Thanks, I will so 1st see to find a module

I like the idea of the Krigg over the bix (more simple installation), but I don't know if the feel seems real or not. I need something not too far from real thing because I am learning drum since not long on acoustic drum. I will read about this in the time I find a module and I will check the possibility with cymbals.

            Have a good day.
