  • Tama Bell Brass Snare.....hell!!

    ANYONE OWN ONE OF THESE???
    Is the sound really good???
    It is asking $1300+ ........for just a snare.....

    Lars model is more crazy........$15xx....

    Is it really worth it????
    in terms of quality and sound......

    It's a very good snare but expensive of the used materials and manufacturing process. There are snares who sound equal good or even better. For less money...

      Listen to the new SOAD album. That's the snare he uses on all the songs.

        I never bought a snare drum by listening to an album. We know all the recording techniques, don't we?

            Uhhh .... Cooler finish? The bell brass only has a simple clear lacquer to protect the bronze. No finish...

              uh... the one in the 70's had a finish that looked it was rusted and burnted.

                  Nice

                  I always find it interesting to read eBay listings, this one says;
                  "I have used this beauty for rock, jazz and everything in between... "

                  But earlier he says;
                  "it has very little playing time... around 30 minutes to be honest!"

                  Seems a bit strange that he played so much music in just 30 minutes!
                  Music was my first love...

                      That is a very nice snare. It is also a lot of money for an E-bay auction. Paypal/E-bay doesn't really monetarily protect you very much in the case of fraud, and the process is very long and complicated. The best thing is to use one of the escrow services available at the sight. But both the seller and the buyer have to agree to use it, which can sometimes be difficult.

                      If you really get bad vibes from this fellow from e-mails, ask for his number so you can talk to him. Also ask for his street address, and then call directory services and see if they match. If you still have bad vibes, INSIST on escrow. If he refuses, tell him to jump in the lake, and pay him his $2.00 (?) listing fee.
                      Immensely powerful yet with a liquid cat-quick elegance

                          CPG, sounds more like you're describing the Bell Bronze model. Buddy of mine had one in High School band, and nobody was allowed to touch it. It was truly freakin' cool...

                            There is a Tama superstar snare at my local store,
                            It is a seamless metal shell.......3mm thick, Black colour in and out.
                            the outside looks like a black paint, and inside looks like rusted.
                            size is 5x14, asking for around $800.

                            anyone know what material is it?? brass?? steel?? bronze??

                            Thanks!
