These are some recommendation of brushes which you can use to stain wood
        Wooster Brush F5116-4 Stainer
Linzer 3121 0400 Stain Waterproofing Brush
Deck Stain Brush Applicator - Deck BOSS by Perdura
You can insights of this blog on Brushes for Staining Wood by Mr. Bills. And the brush best for staining wood is depends on the purpose. If you are going to be using a brush for water based stains and finished, then use a synthetic bristle brush. If your base of application is oil based then you should use natural bristle brush.

Interesting to come back to this. I fancy another project since it’s only been about 30 years since my last! I think I would use my spray gun this time fir the lacquer this time.
Roland TD30 module on TD20 kit SD3 with various kits. Pearl Masters Kit, Yamaha 9000RC original natural wood finish. Cymbals from Zildgian Pasite and Sabian. Loads of percussion bits. Cubase and Wavelab always current versions.
