OSP DD-502 - Beware!

I'm not one to trash companies for no reason. I am a business owner myself so I know the importance of being fair when reviewing or commenting on a product. At the same time I feel it is also important to try and help other consumers not get ripped off.

But, I have to say purchasing the OSP DD-502 was a complete waste of money. We have had the kit (bought it as a band) for a little over a month now. We practice once a week for about 3 or 4 hours. So, it's been used for roughly 20 to 25 hours.

The first failure was one of the cymbals. It failed during our second practice with the kit. Luckily, the place we ordered it from has been pretty good about replacement parts (so far). The downside is they will not pay for the shipping of the defective item back to them.

The next failure was two practices later - another cymbal.

The next failure was one practice later (last night) and both one of the pads and another cymbal failed.

So far all three of the original cymbals and one of the pads have failed.

At this rate shipping of the defective parts back to the company we purchased the kit from will total about $150 per year.

This is not a kit I would recommend.

Isn't this the Ion/Simmons/ Insert name here kit that has been documented here before as a giant piece of crap-o-lah?

Sorry to here it's such piece f junk for you guys..

Maybe you can make it salvagable enough to ebay it and use the proceeds towards a good used kit..?

OSP - reviews

Hind sight is always 20/20. I wish we would have done a little more research (found this site) before buying it. The advertisement for it on e-bay was completely mis-leading.

We have decided to go acoustic for now and perhaps save up for a Roland in the future.

I just wanted to pass information along to hopefully help others avoid getting ripped off.

I almost bought the same kit a couple months ago. A good friend of mine who has a T-12 kit suggested otherwise.

I ended up buying a used T-7 kit, and have yet to be let down. I have had a few problems programing new sounds, but that's just lack of intelligence....
