              Hi,
I don't think you will see a new top of the line Roland flagship until 6 or 7 years from the past timeline, but expect an update for the td-30 on the middle of the road.
              Regards
              Chris K

Not if you take the TD-4 and TD-9 as examples...
I think the TD-40 will be out well before the previous 7-10 year cycle comes around.
I give it 2 more years (it's nearly 1.5 years old already...).
I hope for a significant update in the meantime.

Hardware: Gibraltar 9600 Series (SN/HH/Pedal), Short Booms, Tube Clamps, Grabbers, Road Series Chrome Clamps on 2 x MDS-9 Rack Tube sets

I think they were just "hold over prototypes" for the restless whiners to keep their market share in tact(Same as the TD-20X) while they worked out the kinks in the ""SuperNatural" system. I doubt you'll see a whole "new" system before the 6-7 year mark. However I bet there will be some significant updates while we wait..

Yes like turning the snares on off and strainer adj....Why were they ever inactive in the first place?

Id love to see some more Bank A instruments for the TD30. There are nearly not enough good toms IMO. The snares have some decent choices, I must say. The tom sounds on VST's and on the 2 Box are WAY nicer.

Let's hope they're working on it: a 'V2', as per the TD-9 development.
                        But more comprehensive.

Yep...they had no reason to show all their cards at once. Suspense and upgrades makes money. Sucks for us...but it's a good business plan.

I'm not convinced it was a 'business plan'.
                            Why?
The TD-9 wasn't 'unfinished'. It was comprehensive.
The upgrade made sense (but I do agree the upgrade price was too high for what it was, at least in Australia).
The TD-30 seems more like it had run over schedule, and they were forced to release it anyway (NAMM and competition probably forced their hand).
Hence the unfinished instruments, and the fairly quick release of 1.1 update - which would normally be considered a pretty major set of changes; they weren't just features you whack in...
And the instrument updates would take a lot of time.
Some read that to be they're using new tech, based on samples, but I think the modelling takes more time under Super Natural's resolution.
I think the other tell-tale sign is the lack of file structure like the TD-9/11/15 have, as it's 'stuck' with the TD-20 format.
I expect all of these to be addressed, as their other, newer products have done in the last 12 months.
They're standardising a lot of these implementations and shared hardware/software.
