  • How to get rimshots sound from DDrum DRT snare trigger and TD-10 exp ?

    Hi to all,

My name is Mario and Im from Chile Southamerica, im new to this fantastic forum but i have read a lot searching for a possible solution for my problem. I have a sonor jungle kit transformed into a nice ejungle kit , i bought a Roland TD-10 expanded module, roland cymbals, mesh heads, the new DDrum DRT trigger kit, and so on. I setup everything and the kit sound amazing for my little expectation on the td-10 module, the only thing i can not get right its make to work the rimshot for the snare drum, the snare trigger has the rimshot capacity but setting it to acutrigger in the trigger settings of the td-10 the signal to the rim piezo it is not working, if someone has a solution for get the rimshot sound please help me .

Note: sorry for my bad english

So you're actually using the SNR (Acoustic Drum Trigger Snare) setting?

I think it's probable that the SNR setting does not expect a rim trigger, because Page 142 of the TD-10 manual all about using acoustic drum triggers says, "Use a monaural cable to connect the drum trigger to the TD-10’s TRIGGER INPUT jack." and you would need a stereo cable to include the rim. (Same applies to a TD-8.)

Later modules like a TD-6/9/12/20 include a specific trigger type for a dual-zone snare acoustic drum trigger (RT-5S or RT-10S).

I think you should try trigger type 12A which should allow both head and rim.

(Does Sonor Jungle Kit tell us anything about the size or type of the snare?)

                  From the snare trigger:

-> xlr cable atached to a xlr to stereo jack converter -> then to the td-10 module

It could be that the DDrum trigger/XLR pin configuration/stereo adapter don't agree with what the TD-10 expects for head/trigger location. I don't know the answer but perhaps someone else here can confirm with you that the pin configuration from tip to tip is correct.

In my extensive testing, these setting seem to work only for Roland triggers. For some external triggers, the RT setting produces absolutely no triggering - for others, it's patchy. Settings like the PD options are much better.

                              DDrum just respond me this:

"you will need to buy a Ddrum Y cable. They Y cable has 1 XRL connection and then two 1/4 connections, one for the head and one for the rim.

                              thanks
